FrontAccounting is an open source accounting software with enterprise resource planning (ERP) elements targeted for small to medium companies. FrontAccounting is released as a web application accessible by any web browser with its database installed on a central server. The application has a modular architecture, supports multicurrency and multibranch companies. Role based access system to various program functionalities enables FrontAccounting as cooperation platform for accountancy offices serving multiple companies on outsourcing rules. The application is focused on supporting everyday company activities like sales, inventory management and purchasing with fully automatic GL posting. All less frequent accounting events can be posted by the GL Journal interface.

It manages third party, expenditure and receipt categories, as well as budgetary lines, financial years, and other informations that makes it quite adapted for associations (except those that require double entry accounting).

LedgerSMB

LedgerSMB is an open source financial accounting program. It offers fairly solid AR, AP, and GL tracking as well as inventory control. LedgerSMB works well on any UNIX-type platform, including Linux, *BSD, and Apple’s OS X, and also is tested on Windows. LedgerSMB began as a fork of SQL-Ledger. It has, however, diverged rapidly and the future architecture has very little to do with its ancestry.

SQL-Ledger

SQL-Ledger is a double entry accounting system. Accounting data is stored in a SQL database server, for the display any text or GUI browser can be used. SQL-Ledger is platform independant and runs on any *NIX, Mac or Windows computer.  SQL-Ledger can be accessed remotely so people can be in different parts of a city, country or across the world. The assembly feature can be used to build manufactured goods from parts, services, labor units and assemblies. When the assembly is sold all the accounts linked to the individual items are updated and stock levels adjusted accordingly. Templates for invoices, orders, income statements, etc. can be modified to suit. SQL-Ledger can also be used with LaTeX to produce PDF or postscript.  Documents can be sent to a printer, file or fax, emailed or displayed on screen.

TurboCASH

TurboCASH is an open source accounting package that is free for everyone to download and distribute under the terms of the General Public Licence (GPL). It is one of the world’s first fully-featured open source accounts packages for small business. TurboCASH is much more than a simple ‘home finances’ or small business bookkeeping system. TurboCASH includes most functions a business will ever need: debtors, creditors, general ledger, full stock control, VAT accounting, invoicing, bank reconciliation, trial balance, balance sheet and income statements, full reporting and analysis, as well as mutli-company and multi-user capabilities.
